Production model to slot above C4 Cactus

Citro├źn has brought to this year's Auto Shanghai show the Aircross concept unveiled online about two weeks ago.
The French used the C4 Cactus recipe when designing their latest concept which likely serves as a preview for a future model slotting above the plant-named crossover. It is 4.58 meters long, 2.1 meters wide and 1.8 meters tall and rides on a set of oversized 22-inch alloy wheels as you would expect to see on such an outlandish concept.
PSA decided to install a plug-in hybrid arrangement for the Aircross which combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor mounted at the back. The combustion engine delivers 218 PS (160 kW) and 275 Nm (203 lb-ft) of torque while the electric motor produces an additional 95 PS (70 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft). It's enough hybrid power to allow the vehicle run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in four and a half seconds.
Charging the lithium-ion battery pack takes three and a half hours from a domestic socket and offers enough juice for an electric range of 31 miles (50 km). When used as a hybrid, the Aircross has an amazing fuel consumption of just 1.7 liters / 100 km (138.2 mpg US or 166 mpg UK) and 39 g/km of CO2 emissions.
