Kia USA > 35,000 vehicles recalled

Kia Motors, the second of South Korean automakers, announced Friday (Sept. 3) recall of some 35,000 vehicles sold in the United States, due to a defect in the electrical circuit in the interior lights which suddenly can catch fire.

Earlier this week, the manufacturer autombile announced the recall of 18,000 vehicles sold in South Korea, for the same defect.

Most cars recalled in the United States were built in South Korea, except R Sorento, Kia plant produced in the State of Georgia (southeastern U.S.), said a spokesman manufacturer.

They were all built between September 2009 and June 2010.

No accidents were reported so far.
