Chrysler has been mum thus far on all the juicy details of the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee - an SUV that the automaker is hoping will return the model to its former days of greatness. Today, JeepGarage.org, a Jeep enthusiast Web site, claims to have dug up an official 2011 Grand Cherokee order guide that divulges trim levels, specs, and pricing information.
The 2011 Grand Cherokee is available in Laredo, Limited, and Overland trims, but the Laredo line is split into two different models. The entry-level Laredo "E" package, which starts at $31,480 and $33,470 for two-wheel and four-wheel-drive models, respectively, is the entry-level Grand Cherokee. Standard equipment includes the new 3.6-liter "Pentastar" V-6, a five-speed automatic transmission, 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lamps, and a six-speaker audio system.
The Laredo "X" bumps 4x2 and 4x4 pricing to $36,095 and $37,995, respectively, while adding a host of standard content, including a 115-volt AC outlet, a nine-speaker audio system with touch-screen interface and a 30-gigabyte hard drive, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seating, Bluetooth connectivity, and an iPod connector. Laredo X models are optionally available with Chrysler's revised 5.7-liter "Hemi" V-8, which will add $1645 to the window sticker.
The 2011 Limited model carries even more standard equipment, including 18-inch polished aluminum wheels, bi-xenon HID headlamps, a panoramic sunroof, heated second-row seats, power-folding electrochromatic side-view mirrors, and upgraded door panel trim. Of course, pricing takes a bit of a jump over a Laredo X, with 4x2 models starting at $38,280, and 4x4 models running $40,260. The Hemi V-8 remains an option.
Last seen in the 2004 model year, the Overland trim returns for 2011, and represents the most luxurious Grand Cherokee money can buy. In addition to all the content found on the Limited, the Overland adds 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, navigation, stitched leather trim on the instrument panel, doors, and center console armrest, real wood trim, premium Nappa leather seating, and a power liftgate. Jeep's new "Quadra-Lift" air suspension is also standard, as is a two-speed transfer case on four-wheel-drive models. Pricing is reported to start at $42,430 for two-wheel-drive Overlands, and $45,770 for four-wheel-drive models.
Expect to see more official details on the 2011 Grand Cherokee in the coming months. Production of the new SUV is expected to start in Detroit come May 2010, and the first salable examples should arrive at dealers in June.
