Launched earlier this year, Ford Figo is still backed up in its success in winning the car of the year 2011 in India. She succeeds the Tata Nano.
On the market since March, the Ford Figo has already found more than 60,000 buyers. A success which comes to give a facelift to the Ford brand in India, and it alone accounts for nearly three quarters of the volumes of the mark.
The title of Car of the Year is awarded by a jury of industry journalists (AutoBild, AutoIndia, BBC TopGear, Business Standard Motoring, Car India and Overdrive). A jury has preferred the Ford Figo successor to the Maruti Suzuki Swift (2006), Honda Civic (2007), Hyundai i10 (2008), Honda City (2009) and Tata Nano. Other contenders this year were named Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R, Nissan Micra, Skoda Yeti, Tata Aria, Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Vento.
