White is the color of the world's most popular vehicle

In a recent survey released by the United States PPG Industries, leading manufacturer of automotive coatings, White was ranked as the most popular vehicle color in the world. About 21% of 2011 model-year cars around the world have been white. Silver and Black took second place, tied with 20%.

In South America, however, the silver and black keeps the lead, with 31% and 21% of the preference, respectively. Third comes the gray with 17.4%. The white appears in the fourth, with 16.1%. But it is noteworthy that silver and black have lost ground, while gaining gray and white.

"White preference was 10.2% in 2009, rose to 13.8% in 2010 and now has jumped to 16.1%," says Alex Lair Amorim, head of the Laboratory Development PPG colors of Brazil.
