    Renault have decided that the slightly odd looking Renault Laguna Coupe will be available as the Monaco GP Special Edition this side of the Channel as well, so best we give you the gen.

    The paint job on the Laguna Monaco GP comes in pearlescent white with a contrasting black roof. You get goodies such as 18″ black alloys, black door mirrors, BOSE, electric and heated front seats, TomTom SatNav and a bespoke ‘Monaco GP’ leather trim. The Monaco GP also gets four-wheel steering.

    The Monaco GP is based on the Laguna Coupe GT and gets the 2.0 dCi 180 FAP engine and is meant to commemorate Renault’s F1 wins at Monaco in 2004 and 2006 (so why release it in 2010?). Which makes us wonder why offer just a 180bhp diesel if we’re commemorating the Monaco GP? Especially as Renault appear to be offering the 3.0 litre V6 dCi diesel with 235 hp and the 3.5 litre V6 petrol with 240 bhp as well as a pair of 2.0 litre diesels in Europe.

    The order book is open now and first deliveries are in July. Renault are closing the order book in September, so this really will be a limited run. The Renault Laguna Monaco GP Special Edition costs £24,995 which Renault say is a saving of £5,200 compared to adding the options to the bog-standard Coupe GT.
