Ferrari 340 Mexico Vignale Coupe 1952 sold for 4.29 million dollars






The rare and beautiful classic Ferrari 340 Mexico Vignale Coupe, 1952, exceeded all expectations after a recent auction house RM Auctions sold for the amount of 4.3 million dollars (3.03 million euros). The promoters of the house was estimated to sell around 3.5 million dollars but dropped out after one of the three Mexico Vignale Coupe ever built, caught the 4.29 million dollars.

The car competed in the race Carrera Panamericana (as in the Mille Miglia) the third most dangerous race track in the world in the hands of Luigi Chinetti and Jean Lucas. The race took place from 1950 to 1954 and 27 participants died and after a serious accident at Le Mans, the race was decided not to ever happen again. In 1952 Ferrari 340 Mexico Vignale Coupe has won the third position.

Owner was well-known collector Larry Nicklin, and the car is chassis number 0224 AT, once a V12 4.1 liter 284 horsepower performance combined with a 5-speed manual transmission. The motion carried on the rear axle.

In the same auction Ferrari 212 Inter Vignale Coupe 1953 to 0267 EU arithrmo chassis sold over $ 660,000.
