Informed of plans to restructure its production plants, BMW confirmed that all car assembly units in Germany will produce at least one electric vehicle by the end of 2022.
Starting next year, the company will begin manufacturing the i4 and iX at its factories in Munich and Dingolfing, with the latter also manufacturing the electric versions of the next generation Series 5 and 7.
In addition to the above, BMW has confirmed that its plant in Regensburg will start production of the new -third- generation of the X1 in 2022. The compact crossover will be available with both internal combustion engines and all-electric units with the iX1 to yield from 180 to 250 horses .
In the long run, the Leipzig plant will produce the next Mini Countryman from 2023, and as already announced, this model will be available with conventional engines as well as electric. The factory currently produces the i3, which means that 2023 may be its last year of production.
The new BMW X1 will be released in 2022
