VW ID. Buzz LWB 2024 caught as a prototype without camouflage

While the front and rear sections will be identical to the short-wheelbase model already available at present, major changes can be seen at the sides of the vehicle. The distance between the front and rear axles is significantly larger and the rear sliding doors have grown noticeably. In addition to alloy wheels in a different design than previously seen on the ID. Buzz, however, this LWF prototype does not seem to feature any other styling changes.

No photos are available of the interior, and the dark-tinted windows prevent us from peeking inside. But the ID. Buzz LWB will offer up to three rows of seating with room for up to seven people. The most popular configuration will probably be the one with two single seats in the first row, a bench seat for three in the second and two split-folding seats in the third row.

We don't know exactly how long the LWB model will be, but in a teaser presentation to investors last year, Volkswagen showed an image that suggested the wheelbase would be about as long as the rear overhang would otherwise be. That means the ID. Buzz LWB will measure around 5 meters. By comparison, the SWB variant comes in at 4.71 meters.

More space between the axles also theoretically means more room for a battery pack, with earlier unconfirmed reports talking about a 111-kWh battery. The largest power storage supported by VW's MEB platform.
